Bagerhat’s Mongla put on eight day lockdown
PBC News: The local administration has imposed lockdown at Mongla upazila in Bagerhat district for eight days from Sunday as Covid-19 infection rate is 73.80 per cent in the last two days.
A total of 14 out of 20 samples were found positive for the virus on May 28 and 31 out of 42 found positive on May 29.
Upazila family planning officer Dr Jibetosh Biswas said the infection rate increased at alarming rate in the area. There is no way other than putting the area on strict lockdown.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamlesh Mazumdar said eight day lockdown was imposed from Sunday. He sought the cooperation of all in implementing the lockdown.
Bagerhat civil surgeon Dr KM Humayun Kabir said a total of 1,508 were infected with coronavirus in the district.
