No plan to reopen garment factories: Farhad
PBC News: The government ha no plans to reopen garment factories amid spread of deadly coronavirus across the country.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said this while responding to a question from reporters after the cabinet meeting held at Secretariat on Monday.
“We have closed garments and export-oriented factories. Millions of workers used to come and go in these factories, now the number has decreased. If someone comes out for unreasonable causes but has to face the law,” said the state minister.
Farhad Hossain said, “We have heard that many factories have been kept open despite the restrictions. Those who are opening factories it is being monitored. If evidence is found, legal action will be taken against the factory owners.”
“Currently there is no alternative to strict restrictions. That issue has been discussed in the cabinet today.”
