Rizvi hits back at PM over her remarks on Zia’s grave
PBC News: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has criticized the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remarks on its party founder Ziaur Rahman.
“There is no injustice around today. There is no truth. The best son of this country is martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He is constantly being insulted in various ways. That being said, there is no evidence that he took part in the Liberation War. Who says? The Prime Minister says herself. Can he say that?” said Rizvi while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on Friday.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina questioned why the BNP leaders and activists engaged in clashes with police at Chandrima Udyan as they know Ziaur Rahman’s body was not in the grave there.
“BNP clashed (with police) at Chandrima Udyan. Doesn’t the BNP know there is no grave or body of Zia or Zia is not there? They know well. If so, why do they stage the drama? Khaleda Zia knows well too,” she told a memorial meeting joining virtually from her official Ganabhaban residence in Dhaka.
In response to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Rizvi said lies are constantly being told about former President Ziaur Rahman, the country’s eminent freedom fighter and sector commander.
Rizvi said, “Today, those who exactly did not take part in the Liberation War, were staying in Bangladesh, staying in Dhaka, under the supervision of the Pakistani military, they are talking like this about the renowned freedom fighters. We strongly condemn and protest.”
