Jamaat secy gen among 7 sent to jail
PBC News: A Dhaka court has ordered to send seven persons, including Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh’s secretary general Golam Porwar, to jail in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain passed the order on Wednesday after IO DB police’s inspector Kazi Wazed Ali produced them before the court.
The court also rejected the bail petition after completion of both sides’ arguments.
The six other persons are Jamaat’s assistant secretary general Rafiqul Islam Khan, central executive committee members Ijjot Ullah, Mobarak Hossain, Jamaat Sura Council member Yasir Arafat, ameer Mawlana ANM Shamsul Islam and chef Md Imam Hossain.
On September 6, a Dhaka court placed Rafiqul Islam Khan, Ijjot Ullah, Mobarak Hossain, and Yasir Arafat on a two-day remand each.
