DU residential halls reopen
PBC News: The residential halls of Dhaka University (DU) were reopened on Tuesday morning after 18 months of shutdown due Covid-19 pandemic.
Undergraduate final-year students and Masters’ students are allowed to enter the halls from 8:00 am on Tuesday as the authorities of Dhaka University reopened the dormitories.
The authorities formally received the residential students with flowers and chocolates as the halls reopened after 18 months of shutdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, said DU proctor and provost standing committee member secretary AKM Golam Rabbani.
He said, “Next, the honours’ final year students are allowed to stay at the dormitories providing the vaccine certificate of at least one dose and the university ID card.”
On September 26, the central library, science library and department seminar rooms opened for students.
On the day, the provost standing committee of the Dhaka University recommended for reopening the university’s dormitories from 8:00am on October 5 for the honours final year and the master’s students.
According to the university authorities’ decision, the final-year and undergraduate students will have to take their exams and attend classes after the halls reopen while first, second and third-year students will be allowed into the halls from November.
