HC rules for compensating Barishal electrocution victim
PBC News: The High Court on Tuesday issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain why it shall not pass order to give Taka two
crore in compensation to a Barishal boy, who lost his two hands after getting electrocuted by coming in contact with a high voltage power supply line.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order holding a hearing on a writ filed by the child’s father, BSS reports.
The court asked 14 officials concerned including power and energy secretary and chairman of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board to reply to the rule.
According to the case documents, Palli Bidyut Samity in Muladi, Barisal took their high voltage power supply line over the two-storied house of Jubayer, 7. Sensing the possible danger, his family had pleaded to shift the line, which went unheard.
Recently Jubayer accidentally got electrocuted by the power supply line.
