Obaidul Quader out of danger, needs to take rest
PBC News: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, who was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University BSMMU) Hospital after complain of chest pain is now out of danger, said BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed.
The Road Transport and Bridges minister requires to take rest, he said.
Sharfuddin was talking to reporters at his office at BSMMU on Tuesday afternoon over Quader’s health.
He said: “Obaidul Quader comes at the BSMMU regularly after he fell sick in March 2019. He also came today for check-up. A medical team, comprising 10 specialist physicians at the BSMMU examined him. They said he (Quader) had done so much work that he requires to take some rest now. So, he has been admitted to Cabin No. 312 at the advice of physicians.”
The BSMMU VC said, “We’ve examined him some time ago. His oxygen saturation level is 99 and pulse rate 73. It means everything is normal.”
Sharfuddin said Quader has diabetes and hypertension because of his age. However, everything would become normal once he starts taking medicines. “He is out of danger.”
He said the medical board would examine Quader again at 10am on Wednesday.
The BSMMU VC said Quader doesn’t suffer from Covid-19 complications. “We’ve not found any Covid-19 related complications in his body. Since coronavirus exists, we have made everything restricted so that none can approach him in his cabin.”
Asked whether Quader suffered from breathing complications, he said, “Many suffer from breathing difficulties after walk at this stage of age. However, it will become normal after he takes rest.”
When asked whether he has any infection in lungs, Sharfuddin said, “Such an infection might be there. We’ll prescribe him medicines to prevent infection. His pathological tests are going on. There is nothing to be worried. We have monitoring him normally. Now, he is out of danger and in better condition.”
Replying to a question, he said “It will be possible to know whether Obaidul Quader has developed water in lungs. The medical board will examine him tomorrow. We are yet to know about it. We will be able to know it after X-ray and CT Scan.”
