Alal seeks apology withdrawing remarks on PM
PBC News: BNP joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal has sought apology to the countrymen for his remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The BNP leader, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in India, withdrew his indecent remark and sought the apology through a written statement.
BNP Chairperson’s media wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the development to the media on Tuesday.
“I apologise to all those who have been hurt by my words,” Alal said in his statement.
“I am undergoing treatment thousands of miles away from my homeland as I had a serious surgery. My family has kept me away from all the bad news. Lately, I came to know one of my past statement causing a great deal of controversy,” the statement said.
In his 49-year political career, the BNP leader said, he did not intentionally hurt the dignity, feelings and beliefs of anyone. “But, as a human being, I’m not above mistakes.”
On Sunday, Khulna District Lawyers’ Association President Saiful Islam filed a case against Alal under the Digital Security Ac for his derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to the case statement, during a discussion on October 1, Alal made disparaging remarks on Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
