Two killed in JSS-UPDF shootout in Rangamati
PBC News: Two people were killed in a shootout between the activists of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti (PJSS) Santu Larma’s group and United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) at Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati district on Wednesday noon.
The deceased were identified as the PJSS’s activist Janang Chakma, 36, and the UPDF’s Monimoy Chakma, 35.
Md Monu Mia, a Bengali worker, was also caught in the line of fire. He is now undergoing treatment at Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex.
Locals said the gunfight took place between the activists of the PJSS and the UPDF in Dui Kilo area over establishing supremacy in the area. The clash left the duo dead on the spot and Monu Mia injured.
Baghaichhari Police Station officer in-charge Anwar Hossain said being informed, BGB, army and police personnel visited the scene.
