‘What can I do if Ivy doesn’t get support from her MP?’
Rival Independent candidate Taimur Alam Khondker made the remarks about Awami League candidate Selina Hayat Ivy in Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election.
Taimur made the remarks responding to queries of journalists during a door-to-door campaign at Jalkuri area of Ward No. 9 in Narayanganj city on Saturday morning.
He said he sought the support from Shamim Osman MP and his elder brother Selim Osman MP. “I want the support of the Narayanganj lawmakers. I have launched my campaign. I want the support of all including people.”
The Independent candidate said when Shamim Osman was a student leader, he was a powerful workers’ leader in Narayanganj. “I don’t walk on Shamim’s feet. I walk on my own feet. If someone believes that I am imperative to fulfill their demands, they will cast their ballots in favour of me.”
Taimur said people from all strata in Narayanganj have taken to the street in favour of him. “I have sough votes from them. Had Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina been a voter in Narayanganj, I would have sought vote from her. I firmly believe that she would have cast her ballot in favour of me witnessing my transparent, people-oriented activities over the last 50 years.”
Replying to a query of a journalist, Taimur said, “Please ask Narayanganj BNP leaders whether I am a BNP man. BNP didn’t expel me. Rather, they have made the scopes for me so that I get support from all political parties here. I also seek the votes of Awami League”
