SUST students continue demo demanding 3-point
PBC News: Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) are continuing protest demanding three points, including the resignation of the Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall provost committee.
The agitating students were seen protesting in front of the administrative building of the university from 11:30 am on Friday. Earlier, the students of the hall staged a protest in front of the Vice-Chancello’’s residence till midnight on Thursday.
According to sources, on Thursday night, the students of the female dormitory informed the hall provost Zafrin Ahmed Liza of their problems about accommodation. But the students alleged that the hall provost misbehaved with them.
The agitated students immediately staged a protest at the hall and then outside the official residence of SUST Vice-Chancellor, demanding provost Zafrin’s resignation and public apology, as well as resolution of their long-standing issues.
As the situation was not under control, the Vice-Chancellor came around 2.00am and talked to the students and assured them that he would solve the problem through discussion.
According to the assurance, a delegation of 10-12 students sat in discussion with the Vice-Chancellor at 11:30 am on Friday. The students said that there they presented three point-demand.
The demands are: resignation of the provost committee, solution of all the problems in the hall and immediate appointment of student friendly and responsible provost committee. They further added that their movement will continue till the provost resigns.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin said they have discussed with the student delegation.
“Many of their demands have already been resolved. The rest will be solved.”
