Actress Shimu’s had ‘love marriage’

PBC News:  Husband and his one friend have been arrested by police a day after recovery of actress Raiman Islam Shimu’s body wrapped in a gunny sack.

Police claimed that husband Shakhawat Ali Nobel has already admitted killing his wife.

However, arrested Nobel filed a general diary with Kalabagan Police Station stating missing of his wife Shimu one day ago.

Besides, slain Shimu’s sister Fatema Nisha on Tuesday morning told journalists at Keraniganj Police Station premises that “we can’t still understand who had killed my sister and why. My sister had no conjugal dispute with her husband. They married 18 years ago. It was a love marriage”

“How we want justice whoever has killed my sister. We’ll file a murder case,” she said.

After identifying Shimu’s body at Mitford Hospital in the capital, Nisha told journalists that they became suspicious finding the mobile phone of her sister switched off and she didn’t return home.

Then they started inquiring at hospitals, police stations and FDC. Knowing that an unidentified woman’s body was found in Keraniganj, they rushed to Mitform Hospital morgue and found dismembered body of her sister there.

Earlier, Shimu’s husband filed a general diary with Kalabagan Police Station citing that his wife went missing.

He also mentioned that Shimu went out of the house on Sunday morning telling nothing to anyone else. Since then she had been missing.

Keraniganj Police Station’s officer-in-charge Abdus Salam Mia said the body was dismembered into two pieces and kept on roadside in two sacks. There was a mark on her neck.

During a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Dhaka District Police Super Maruf Hossain Sarder said, “We visited the spot on Monday night after identifying the body. As we found the remarks of her husband suspicious, we detained him along with his friend. Later, they were arrested after their involvement was found on the basis of evidence and proofs.”

“We’ve already seized the car which was used to carry Shimu’s dismembered body to Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj. Besides, we’ve collected other evidence. Model Shimu’s husband is now in police custody. Process is going on to file a murder case against them.”
