Schools, colleges likely to reopen after Feb 21: Minister
PBC News: Educational institutions across the country are likely to reopen after February 21 in compliance with health rules, Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said.
He made the comment following a view exchange meeting with local unit Awami League leaders and workers at Shuvro Center in Gorpara area of Manikganj on Saturday.
Zahid Maleque said, “Coronavirus infections are now declining. The country on Friday recorded the infection rate at 15 per cent, although the death toll was higher. Reopening schools and colleges will not be a problem as the virus infection is declining.”
He said almost all students of the schools and colleges have been vaccinated which is a matter of hope at this moment.
“About 28 lakh students of colleges have taken booster dose. There will be no problem if the schools and colleges are reopened following the health rules.”
About reopening of schools and colleges, the health minister said, “The government and Education ministry finally take decision about educational institutions. If they seek any advice from us we give it accordingly. The schools and colleges may be reopened after February 21 as the Education minister said it earlier.”
Zahid Maleque said, “We would suggest that schools and colleges should be reopened in compliance with the health rules. In addition, students who have not been vaccinated should be vaccinated.”
