Ekushey Book Fair extended till March 17
PBC News: The ongoing Amar Ekushey Book Fair, scheduled to end on February 28, has been extended till March 17. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid confirmed the news at a press briefing on Sunday.
“The door of the book fair was opening for all on February 1 for the decades. But this year, it has been delayed for two weeks due to coronavirus pandemic in the country,” Minister Khalid said.
On February 15, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 38th book fair on the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises.
“The government has taken the decision of extension due to improvement in the COVID situation. The publishers and writers also demanded time extension of the book fair.”
The Prime Minister gave an approval to extend the duration of the book fair this morning, KM Khalid added.
