3 youths killed over Facebook status on woman in Gazipur
PBC News: Three young men were killed and four others injured in a violent clash over posting an ‘offensive status’ on a woman on Facebook at village Dakkhingaon in Sonmania union of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district on Sunday (March 13) morning.
The deceased were Nayeem Hossain, 18, son of late Alam Hossain, Faruq Hossain, 26, son of Alam Mia, and Robin, 15, son of Hiron Mia.
At least, 7 to 8 people of both sides were injured in the clashes between the followers of both families.
Kapasia police, however, detained two people in connection with the incident.
Locals said the clash ensued between two groups of youths of Dakkhingaon village under Sonmania union and Daulatpur area in Monohordi upazila of Narsingdi district around 11:30 pm over posting an ‘offensive status’ on a woman on Facebook, said Kapasia Police Station OC AFM Nasim.
Both the feuding groups used machetes and stabbed each other indiscriminately, leaving seven to eight people injured.
Critically injured persons were taken to Monohardi Upazila Health Complex in Narsingdi where the on-duty doctor declared Nayeem Hossain and Faruque Hossain dead.
The other injured were shifted to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Injured Rabin succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning at DMCH.
OC Nasim said two youths–Belayet, 23, and Faisal–of Coacher Char under Monohardi upazila were detained in this connection.
