NSU student Meem’s death: Covered van driver, helper remanded
PBC News: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed the driver and helper of a covered van, which rammed a female student of North South University (NSU) at Kuril Biswa Road Flyover in the capital, on a four-day remand each.
After hearing on a remand petition, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Bakr Siddique passed the order.
Earlier this morning, the investigation officer sought seven-day remand for each after producing them before the court.
Khilkhet police arrested the covered van driver Saiful Islam and his assistant Mashiur from Chattogram port city. At that time, the covered van was also seized.
Maisha Mumtaz Meem, a student of the 6th semester of the Department of English at NSU, was killed when the covered van driver rammed her scooty at about 7:30am on Kuril Biswa Road flyover.
Later, a case has been fled with Khilkhet Police Station accusing the van driver and his assistant.
