Sohel Chy murder accused Ashish sent to jail
PBC News: Arrested Ashish Roy Chowdhury, the prime accused in a case filed over the murder of film actor Sohel Chowdhury, has been sent to jail in a case filed under the Narcotic Control Act.
Following a petition by the case investigation officer Shahmim Hossain, Gulshan Police Station SI, to keep Ashish Roy in jail till the investigation, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sayed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order on Thursday.
On the other hand, Ashish’s lawyer filed a bail petition. The court then fixed April 10 for hearing on the bail plea.
On Tuesday (April 5) night, RAB arrested Ashish, chief operating officer of Regent Airways, after cordoning off a house at Gulshan-1 in the capital.
The law enforcers also seized 23 bottles of foreign liquor and some beer cans from the house No. 25/B on Road No. 107 near the Pink City in the area.
RAB-10 DID Jahangir Alam on Wednesday night filed the drug case against Ashish Roy.
Actor Sohel Chowdhury was shot and killed on December 18, 1998 in sequel to his heated arguments with Aziz Mohammad Bhai. Ashish Roy Chowdhury was one of the masterminds of the murder.
