Be ready for next polls, instead of dreaming about caretaker govt: Hasan
PBC News: Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Friday advised BNP to take preparations for the next general election instead of dreaming about caretaker government.
He was talking to reporters before attending the 11th biennial conference of Entomological Society at Agricultural Research Council auditorium at Khamarbari in the capital on Friday afternoon.
The minister said election will be held under the Election Commission according to the provision of the constitution. “Shun the dream of caretaker government. Elections will be held under the Election Commission while the present government in power as per the constitution and like all democratic countries in the world.”
“If BNP tries to create any indiscipline and chaos in the name of movement, it will be resisted along with people,” he said.
Hasan Mahmud said, “In all democratic countries, including India, Japan, Australia, Europe and even in the United States, no government comes to power after the resignation of incumbent government. In the same way, the elections will be held while the current government is in power.”
Recalling the 2014 general elections, he said, “BNP tried to prevent the elections in 2014, but failed. The journey to democracy continued. They (BNP) also said such things in 2018. Finally, they took part in the polls with its alliances, and the result is only five seats.”
