Sedition case filed against Babunagari-Mamunul Huq
A sedition case has been filed against three people, including Hefazat-e Islam ameer Junayed Babunagari and joint secretary general Mamunul Huq, for defaming Bangabandhu by Muktijuddha Mancha Central Committee President Aminul Islam Bulbul.
Meanwhile, Advocate Moshiur Malek, executive president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed another case accusing Mamunul Haque. The cases were lodged with the Chief Metropolitan Court on Monday.
Another accused is Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, Senior Naib-e-Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
On Sunday, Supreme Court lawyer Md Jishan Mahmud sent a prayer to the Senior Secretary of the Public Safety Division of the Home Ministry seeking permission to file the sedition case against Babunagari and Mamunul Huq.
In his prayer, Jishan Mahmud mentioned that Khelafat Majlish leader Mamunul Huq and Faizul Karim strongly criticised the construction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s statue at a rally in Dhaka on November 13 last.
Warning the government, he (Mamunul Huq) said he would commit another ‘Shapla Chattar’ and threw away the statue unless the government abandoned its plan to construct it.
On the other hand, at a mahfil at Hathazari in Chattogram in the evening of November 29, Hefazat-e Islam ameer Junayed Babunagari threatened to pull down all statues no matter which party erects them.
On Saturday (December 5), an under-construction statue of Bangabandhu was vandalized in Kushtia.
