BSF held Bangladeshi policeman in border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained a member of Bangladesh police from the border area in Sadar upazila of Panchagarh district on Sunday night
Detained Omar Faruque is a police constable posted at the District and Sessions Court.
Locals said an altercation took place between three policemen and several Indian citizens when the policemen went to the Mominpara border at about 9:00pm.
At one stage, the BSF members detained Omar and took him to their custody while others managed to escape the place.BGB-56 commanding officer Lt Colonel Md. Mamunul Haque could not be contacted for a comment in this regard, our local correspondent reports.
However, a letter was sent to the BSF for holding a flag meeting in this regard, said the BGB sources.
Meanwhile, additional superintendent of Panchagarh police Sudarshon Kumer Roy said the BGB did not informed them yet whether the BSF picked up a policeman and took into their custody.
They are looking into the matter, he added.
