Tourists being sent back from Bandarban

PBC News: Tourists are being sent back from Milan Chhari area of the Bandarban-Ruma road on Tuesday due to the joint operation of the security forces in the border areas.

Police administration started to send the tourists, who went to Bandarban’s Ruma and Roangchhari, back from Milan Chhari police outpost from this morning.

The Bandarban district administration on Monday banned tourist movement in Ruma and Rowangchhari upazilas due to security concerns. The guides have been asked to bring all the tourists back by Tuesday, cancelling plans to travel further into the hill tracts.

The drives began in Rangamati and Bandarban areas last week after media reports suggested that a new militant group, named ‘Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’, was working with Myanmar-based separatist group KNF.

The district administration sent back all the vehicles carrying tourists from Milan Chhari area this morning.
